Recipes

I can't say that I use many recipes or measurements, except for baking. Its usually what's in the fridge/pantry is now on my plate. BUT there are some brilliant ideas that I would like to highlight and give merit where deserved.

Curry popcorn with fried egg

Popcorn has quickly become one of my favorite snacks. Waiting for dinner (which in Argentina can mean 1am), I'll munch on some spicy popcorn leaving me satisfied and still hungry for dinner. Measurements are dependent on your taste for spice, but include the following:

- Curry powder
- Garlic powder
- Salt and pepper
- Fried egg, cut in pieces and tossed over the popcorn

What to do with stale bread?

This question often runs through my head after a thrilling dumpster diving stint that leaves my kitchen full of garbage bags full of bread. I've successfully given every friend at least a couple of loaves from my exploits, but there still seems to be some left over. My freezer can't handle the overload and my stomach is reaching its limit. But recently my friend showed me this brilliant recipe that sends me back to the garbage bag (of bread that is) even after a week or so of dormancy.

In Spanish its simply called "Pan con tomate" or bread with tomato. Quantities depend on how much you are making, but having some extra on the side never hurts. There will always be more bread...

- Bread
- Olive oil
- Garlic
- Tomatoes
- Salt and pepper

1. Grill the bread, regardless of type or size (baguette, roll, loaf) and slice.
2. Drizzle some olive oil on the bread slices.
3. Cut a clove of garlic in half and rub on the bread.
4. Cut a large tomato in half and rub the juicy side on the grilled bread slices.
5. Add salt and pepper to taste.
